Library Board Named "Trustee of the Year"
Each year the Alliance Library System, of which Peoria Public Library is a member, gives an award to the "Trustee of the Year." For the first time ever, this award went to an entire Board of Trustees, The Peoria Public Library Board of Trustees. The award was given for their outstanding accomplishment in leading the Peoria Public Library to success in an advisory referendum to issue bonds in the amount of $35 million for the purpose of improving library service throughout Peoria. The referendum passed by an impressive 72% yes vote on April 17, 2007.
The Alliance Library System gives the award to recognize a public library trustee for outstanding contributions to their library and community by setting the standard for commitment, enthusiasm and dedication. The award was given in a ceremony on October 29 at the Alliance Library System building in East Peoria.
