Peoria Public Library is closing North and Lakeview branches until further notice upon learning that an employee has tested positive for COVID.
"Until we have results from further employee testing, those branches will remain closed," said Peoria Public Library Executive Director Randall Yelverton. "We have strong safety protocols, but we want to err on the side of caution."
We still have three locations -- Main Library and McClure and Lincoln branches -- which remain open. Curbside pickup is also available at those locations.
"We want the public to know that we will always be transparent with them and always put safety first."
For patrons with holds waiting at Lakeview or North branches, please know that those items are now quarantined until those locations reopen.
BUT, you can call Main Library or Lincoln or McClure branches and we will seek out those materials for you from another source.
Main, Lincoln and McClure are all still open for brief browsing and checkouts or curbside pickup.
No services are available at North or Lakeview at this time.
We are sorry for any inconvenience, but we hold your safety and the safety of our staff as our highest priority. Thank you!
The Lakeview Branch book drop, which empties into the building, is also closed. Please use a book drop at Main Library, Lincoln or McClure Branches or feel free to hold onto your materials.
Now that Peoria Public Library is fine free, you need not worry about overdue fines.
