Would you go to jail for the right to vote? - Lakeview Branch

It took nearly 100 years for women to win the right to vote, and now we're celebrating 100 years of having it.

This summer marks the 100th anniversary of the signing of the 19th amendment. Do you know how previous generations of women fought for that right? How some endured assault, jail and starvation to advance the cause? Did you know some who opposed it believed women would be tainted morally or would abandon their traditional responsibilities at home if allowed to vote? Join us for a brief yet interesting history lesson. We'll also decorate sashes in keeping with those worn by the original Suffragettes.
