Peoria Public Library Main Library Changes Hours
During Construction, Opens Genealogy Room at WTVP

While all other locations will continue operating at regular times, the Peoria Public Library Main Library, now offering convenience services from the basement level, will close at 6:00 p.m. daily until remodeling is complete.
The change in hours begins on Monday, January 25th. The Main Library was open Monday through Thursday until 9:00 p.m. previously. In addition, the Peoria Public Library has moved the genealogy and local history collection to a space in the WTVP building at 101 S. State Street. That location will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and closed on Wednesdays. Hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the site will be open until 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays evenings.
The Main Library has moved the entire collection of materials to the basement level. Fiction and new books are on shelves in the auditorium and can be browsed while non-fiction, most magazines and music CDs can be located by asking a librarian for assistance. There are four Internet Express computers that can be used for 15 minutes once per day, however there are no tables or chairs for studying or reading. The location should be used as a place to pick up and drop off books while other library locations can be used for more intensive study. All DVDs and audiobooks from the Main Library have been relocated to Lakeview Branch, however by using the library website at www.peoriapubliclibrary.org or by calling 497-2000, materials can be sent to any library location for pickup.
All genealogy materials, including the microfilm collection, will be at the WTVP location at WTVP. Those interested in local history and genealogy will find materials, librarians and genealogists ready to assist them. The location will open on Monday, January 25 to the public.
